The True-self vs the Fake-self

There are many people who cannot forgive themselves.

* Why did I do such a stupid thing? I cannot forgive myself.

* I want to but I cannot stop taking it… I should just die so I don’t continue to superimpose my sins.

* I am pretty sure I will be the same for the rest of my life.
And I cannot forgive myself for being an idiot. I don’t feel like doing anything.

The self of the past, present and future… there are so many parts of me that I cannot forgive.

But, in truth, does the present YOU really have the right to forgive or not to forgive yourself? Forgive or not to forgive is done by god. Do you really know who really you are? In truth, you don’t know anything about yourself.

You try to judge yourself, but know that you are:

A person whose parent gave birth going through immense pain, risking her life.
A person who carried the ultimate god in his/her right heart.
A person who lives together sharing a life with his/her ancestors who have continued to keep a life force since the primitive times.

You are all of those things. Trying to judge yourself would be an ego, a selfish act. The egoistic self is nothing but an illusion. The egoistic self will make other people’s glory as a standard value and always worry first thing about how other people are doing or looking at you. You have assumptions that “I should be this, I should be that. ”

However, all of that is your fake-self, the egoistic-self. Your true-self has been taken over by a fake. And that is not good.

In the ancient times, in the beginning when the Earth culture had just began, Zoroaster devoted all of his time to fight between good and evil. It was a war between the same religion, between countries, between the poor and the rich. ..etc,. A drama was created between the righteous god and the devil that actually existed in the invisible world.

What is happening today in the human civilization is a result of what had happened in the “default (initial set-up).” Why did we have to create such drama on Earth? The reason for this has to do with how the universe was created. In the beginning, the light and the dark, the white hole and the black hole existed as rivalry. And they sucked each other’s energy. This activity was the secret primal power for the universe to expand.

I will predict that some day the science will prove that the universe that we know today has another exact opposite universe in its back. When the scientists discover this other universe, shifting to other dimensions and space warping would become possible.

Just like the universe needing the opposite quality in order to expand, the human civilization needed Zoroaster who was sent to Earth from the North Star in order to create a drama for the yin and yang to fight against each other.

This links to the modern day society as a composition namelythe true-self and the fake-self”. This exists because everything has been transcribed by what goes on in the Universe. Today, it is no longer the outer world’s good and evil drama. Finally, the drama of yin and yang has become a person inner theatre leading to development. Countless centuries had to past by in order to reach this point. But we have.

When these two light&dark within yourself, become one, come into harmony, “One universe as a whole” will become the default, the initial set-up. You could call this enlightenment.

I may have wrote somewhat crazy and unexpected things here, but the point is:

Don’t be too hard on yourself
As long as you follow your own conscience, that's good. Take it easy.
Make sure you reevaluate yourself that your standard value is not coming from your fake-self.
Ask yourself, is this really me? This kind of perspective is important.

Just keeping these factors in mind will change your life to a better one.

Black&white, light&dark contrasts… pay attention when these start to fade away

This year’s expressions in the sky look very different from last year. The weather experts are saying that this year will be a warm winter in Japan. But I think it will be different. I think there will be a mixture of very warm and very cold days. The gap between the warm days and the cold days will be very big and we will have extreme weathers with some heavy snowfall in a short amount of time. The average temperature for this winter may be higher than the average year, but we must pay attention to the day to day differences.

This kind of mixed weather will cause more expenses in the preparation. The snow tires are not cheap. However, even one day of big snowfall, without these snow tires, accidents could happen and there is no guarantee if the insurance will cover in such case.  If your insurance didn’t cover for the accident, and if it involved injuring another person, you may even have to sell your house, a real nightmare.

Know that extreme weather could really change your life upside down. In addition, these kinds of weather would affect not only the humans but the animals as well.
For example, the bears may not able to get into hibernation and they may come out unexpectedly. If you think getting into the forest is safe during the winter, it may not be the case this winter. The kind of bears that live in the main island of Japan, could well kill a man if they are really hungry. When you are paying a visit to the shrines deep inside the mountain, make sure you carry a bell. The sound of a bell will also keep the spirits away. The bad spirits do not like the metallic ringing sounds.

In the traditional Buddhist funeral, they use a metallic sound like a gong to guide the deceased to lead to the next dimension, and to cut-off their emotional attachment toward the life they just passed. This makes sense in a spiritual way.

These past hundred years, the forests are diminishing. And one theory says the cause of this could be coming from the town lights lighting up all night and that may be the cause of their decay. During the dark hours, the leaves go into photosynthetic activity. But when there is light all day, their natural cycle is out of order and weakens the health of nature.

Having said that, we humans also need to have this variation in our daily lives. When we work we need to work fully. And then, we need to rest fully and deeply as well.  In much larger scale, when we are living in this dimension, we should enjoy “motion” and when we go into the life after-death, we enjoy the “stillness.”

In many ways, when the contrasts of light and dark or black and white start to fade away, it is life threatening to all living creatures. I had a revelation a while ago that the Days of Miroku is coming soon when the four seasons are fading away. Feel how these all tie together. And enjoy every moment by living through this time. We will live it through together.

Whats deep inside the Earth

Underwater ruins are often discovered in the Mediterranean. In Okinawa, there is a legend about an island that disappeared in one night. Also an underwater ruin made out of giant stone has been found that may have been an ancient sacred ground/ a place to hold rituals. I think that we will experience activities of the Earth such as sinking of islands and lands much more than what the scientists are now saying.

Just imagine. The surface of the Earth is a thin crust and it’s actually just on top of the mantle layer. And the mantle layer is all pulpy magma running through. In this magma, I sense a great will of the Earth. I somehow feel a very high intelligence inside this river of magma.

This flow of magma is creating the geo-magnetic energy. In my vision, I see this flow of magma in the mantle layer uniting with the magnetic-energy waves from the sun and they are breathing together creating a flow. It is like plus and minus, yin and yang or the couple god Izanagi and Izanami.

What I am trying to say here are:

* There is also a god deep inside the geologic stratum. Therefore, it is good to send our gratitude to the layers beneath the surface of Earth.

* I want you to know that success, happiness and health in this reality are given to the ones who have come to make peace with this god of the deep part of Earth.

To begin with, how did someone decide where to build a shrine in the ancient time? This question will lead us to understand that the deep underground had a great will and intelligence. And someone must have felt certain locations that revealed its power thus come to know a shrine was needed to be build above those places. That was the god’s will.

Thus when you visit a Shinto Shrine, don’t only be concerned about the building but most importantly:
Have the sense of gratitude to the earth beneath it.
Know that a god exists deep down in the ground and only send gratitude. (Don’t ask for any favors and wishes.)

Your thoughts will reach to the god of the very deep earth through your Innate God.
In the Western world, people say there is a shambara, the legendary god’s kingdom exist deep underground. I feel that there are many passages that lead to that kingdom. In Europe the Alps, in Asia the Himalayas, in America and Canada the Rockies and in Japan Haku-san are the places where this passages exist.

Because of the god’s will, Haku-san (Mt.Haku) was intentionally not open to the public for a long time. Before Taicho-daishi (泰澄大師), a monk in the Nara period, opened the mountain to the public, it was a prohibited place to enter. It was controlled by god’s will not to become a place where people pay attention. I imagine that some local people did secretly enter the mountain before the time of Taicho-daishi and many never returned.

Even today, I have heard someone who had seen a super giant tree in Haku-san. People had tried to search for this tree from the sky but have never found it. The tree seems to appear only when one has come alone and got lost in the woods. When one sees an unbelievable giant tree or an unusual flower that is a sign that one has come close to the entrance to shambara.

In Tibet, underneath the Potala Palace there seems to be a maze that leads to shambara. I think this palace was intentionally built above the maze in order to hide it.

I wish you to be aware of the possibility that the earth will sink and rise way more than one can imagine and the importance to send gratitude to the earth and the deeper layers.

The True Shortcut to a Good Life

Sri Ramana Maharshi is a true saint of modern India.
I feel that there are no other saints who surpasses him in the last 1000 years. The Earth exists inside his eyes.

He spent his life without clothes in a sacred mountain called Arunachala, one of the shaivite holy places. (Lord Shiva of India = Susanoo in Japan) in the right heart of Sri Ramana Maharshi,  the energy of Susanoo still throbs in his heart beat.

His words can be related to all human beings around the world.

(1) All unhappiness comes from your ego (selfishness). The hardships are pulled towards you through a magnetic resonance with your ego.

(2) The true reason of your unhappiness comes from inside of self. But you want to blame it to others or think that is was a matter or coincidence. What good does that do to you ?

(3) When you are able to self-examine your ego and burn it away by ignoring them, you are able to become truly free.

If you allow yourself to become selfish, it will bound you in many ways. And by wanting to fulfill one's desire somehow, it will throw you into a vain struggle.

(4) Instead, when you can think that you want to become who you really are, your true-self (Innate God), it will put you back into calmness (the Middle Way). This is the only way you will reach the eternal happiness that already exist inside of self.

The above is what Sri Ramana Maharshi had said and I have interpreted it with my own understanding. And it made me feel so comfortable and pleasant. In all the edges of the words, I feel the presence of the divine energy. The Truth is never difficult or complicated. It is simply comfortable and pleasant.

I will put these words again in another phrase.

According to the content of the selfish desires, the equivalent unhappiness will be attracted into one's life.

The cause of one's unhappiness does not come from the outside, but already existed within oneself.

Therefore, before anything bad happens, ask yourself, "What are my selfish desires?," "Am I being fair?," "Am I in the Middle Way?"  Be a calm observant in your daily life.

Even though you might think that you are an unworthy person, it's good to have the desire to feel and live together with the god that already exists inside of you.  This sense of desire will lead you to true happiness that never fades away. And this way is the only way to do it.

People who are really suffering in life and have no sense of hope would think more seriously about life. In a sense, they may constantly be aware of death. These people are actually experiencing a valuable time as trainer of life. Bad times will never last forever. It is possible that you may save a lot of virtuous energy during this time that will lead you to a great future.

Those who are having an easy life tend to forget to think seriously about life. He/she will forget that death will come one day to all. For these kind of people, the savings of virtue will eventually die out. He/she must no forget that life goes on even after that.

Some people are having good satisfying lives, yet stay in the Middle Way. Their lives could be full of opportunities to temptations yet remaining humble and watchful of their own desires. These people would gain more and more savings of virtue.

No matter what kind of life you are having, the most important thing that nourishes your soul is your thought of wanting to be in oneness with your divine self that resides within yourself.

To live based on your conscience would be the same meaning.

There is no point in rushing anything. Simply live by following your conscience(Innate God). Things will start to change most definitely.

Product Description

The North Star is fixed in place in the night sky, making it a valuable navigation beacon for the travelers since the ancient times. In the same way, the ancient words of Laozi have remained an invariable source of truth and wisdom over the long centuries. I have tried to translate Laozi's words into softer, easier expressions for the sake of modern society, in the hope that people living in this turbulent age can use them as a guideline.

As I translated Laozi’s eighty-one stanzas, from the beginning to the end, his ideas surprised me constantly. I have spent much time in my life reading about the religions and spirituality of all times and nations, but Laozi’s words from twenty five hundred years ago struck me as the most timeless and straightforward truth. In many places throughout these stanzas, I have found the essence of profound Buddhist philosophy condensed in short phrases with well-polished words. The chapters also contain many words that can guide our daily lives in today’s society.  Indeed, Laozi is a man of wisdom.

According to Sima Qian's Records of the Grand Historian, Laozi was last seen leaving China riding on a water buffalo. As I realized the deep insights of Laozi’s words, I started to seriously consider whether he might have journeyed all the way to India and became a teacher of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, in his boyhood.

The compilation of the Buddha's words began long after his death. Strictly speaking, the Buddha’s own words are unknown to us, just like how Jesus Christ didn’t write the Bible. His disciples collected his words. But in case of Laozi, ancient historical records that contain Laozi’s work have been excavated from tumuli in China. The fact that these records have been preserved is a miracle and it may well signify the work of Providence. I believe it is fitting to call Laozi a true sage.

You may not understand the meanings of the original verses in Chinese characters. But if you just keep looking at them, perhaps you will start to feel the spirit of the characters that Laozi himself chose two thousand five hundred years ago. I sense that Laozi carefully chose the characters one by one. He chose the most expressive characters with layers of meanings most suitable for short verses.
I hope you will take this to heart and enjoy reading every line of Laozi’s words. I would be happy if you keep the book handy and read it not just once but over and over again. I am sure the lines will give you different impressions and thoughts every time.

Taichi Tanigawa

A little episode on the process choosing the cover design:

I chose the letter "道" (means path or way) in calligraphy form for the cover of this book. I picked out one from a list that was registered for it's copy right and available to buy. However the profile of this author was not disclosed. He must have been quite a well-known person who could sell his calligraphy. I inquired to the publishing company about why the author's name was a non-disclosure. And the answer was that the author was not happy about this particular piece of work. Hence he requested the profile to be a non-disclosure.

What I felt here from this little episode is that the letter "道" has such deep meaning to it. The author could never be happy about the outcome no matter how many times he wrote it. It means that The Way or The Path is a never ending journey.

I thought this letter was really perfect to be on the cover of this book that interprets the words of Laozi.

A word from A. Morrow who helped us a great deal in the proof-reading.

"As the title hints, this is not an academic translation trying to reconstruct ancient China, but an interpretation for "everyday life" with lots of advice for our personal lives and careers. I'm pleased to have restored a Japanese passage that Tanagawa thought would be too difficult for English speakers. You will really be surprised and impressed by the spirit expressed in this book."
